I show up at the framing stage, walk the house with the plan, and mark every drop before I pull a single foot of cable. No guessing, no 'we'll figure it out later.'
Why it matters in Lehi
Lehi is building faster than almost anywhere in Utah, thousands of new rooftops going up around Traverse Mountain, the Holbrook Farms area, and the fields off 2100 North near the Point. A lot of those homes get thrown up quick, and the builder's 'smart home package' is usually one sad Cat5e drop by the front door. That's it. If you're commuting into a Silicon Slopes tech job on the daily and you actually need the house to keep up, one drop won't cut it.
The other reason it matters here specifically: most Lehi builders schedule drywall within a week or two of framing inspection, so the pre-wire window is tight. Miss it and you're either running exposed cable, paying for wireless workarounds that choke on a 4K stream, or tearing into brand-new walls. I coordinate around the builder's schedule so I get in and out during that gap without holding up your close date.

When exactly do you need to come out during construction?
After framing and rough plumbing/electrical, but before insulation and drywall, that's the window. In most Lehi builds it's a 5-to-10-day gap, so once you know your framing inspection date, text me and I'll lock in a day. A typical single-family pre-wire takes me one to two days on site.
My builder already includes a smart-home or structured-wiring package, isn't that enough?
Usually not. The standard Lehi builder package is often just 2-3 drops and a basic panel, and the wire is frequently Cat5e, not Cat6. I've walked plenty of finished homes where the 'wired office' had a single jack that didn't even reach gigabit reliably. It's cheaper to add proper runs now than to retrofit, so I'll review your builder's plan for free and tell you honestly what's actually missing.
How much does a new-construction pre-wire cost in Lehi?
It depends on square footage and how many drops you want, but most Lehi homes I do land in the range of a few hundred dollars per room's worth of wiring, and a whole typical 3,000-4,000 sq ft house usually runs somewhere in the low-to-mid four figures.
