I'm Cam. I build home theaters in Park City, and I'm the guy who shows up, runs the wire, and tunes the room — not a salesperson who hands you off to a subcontractor you've never met.
A theater can mean a lot of things up here. Sometimes it's a clean 85" setup over the fireplace in a Prospector condo with the speakers actually calibrated instead of just plugged in. Sometimes it's a full dedicated room in a Promontory build with a 120" screen, a 4K laser projector, and 11 speakers overhead for Atmos. I do both, and everything in between.
I keep the schedule tight — usually one or two theaters going at a time — so I'm not juggling 15 job sites and losing track of yours.
Why it matters in Park City
Park City is a second-home town — a big chunk of the houses I work in sit empty half the year, and the owners want the place to just work when they fly in for a week over Sundance or the holidays. A theater that needs a 20-minute fight with three remotes every time isn't that. I set these up so anyone in the family can hit one button and the projector, screen, lights, and sound all come up together, and it's still working right when you come back in April.
The other reality is the mountain itself. We sit at 7,000 feet, we get sun blasting through big south-facing glass most of the year, and a lot of these great rooms are wide-open with 20-foot ceilings — which is a hard room for sound and a worse one for a screen. That's the whole reason a real theater matters here: a dedicated or semi-dedicated room lets me control the light and the acoustics instead of fighting them. And with newer builds going up all over Silver Springs, Jordanelle, and the Mayflower/Deer Valley East side, I'm usually able to get the low-voltage wiring in before the drywall goes up, which saves the homeowner real money and headaches.

Can you build a home theater in a Park City condo, or does it have to be a big house?
Condos absolutely work — I do a lot of them in Old Town, Prospector, and Canyons Village. In a condo I usually skip the projector (ceiling height and shared walls make it tough) and do a large TV with a real 5.1.2 or 7.1 Atmos setup and calibration. For shared-wall units I add sound isolation so you're not rattling your neighbor, which most HOAs here actually care about.
Should I do a projector or a big TV in my Park City home?
Depends on the room. If you can control the light — a dedicated room, a basement, or good blackout shades on those mountain windows — a 4K laser projector on a 110"–130" screen is the move and it's a totally different experience. If it's a bright, open great room facing the ski runs, I'll usually steer you to a 85"–98" TV, because a washed-out projector image at noon isn't worth the money. I'll tell you straight which one your room actually supports.
I'm building a new home in the Jordanelle/Deer Valley East area — when should I call you?
As early as the framing stage, ideally 2–4 weeks before drywall. Getting the theater wire, speaker locations, conduit, and blocking in during rough-in costs a fraction of fishing it through finished walls later — I've seen retrofits run several times the price of a pre-wire on the same room. Even if you're a year out from move-in, a quick walkthrough now saves you real money.
