New construction is everywhere off Mountain View Corridor and Grandville Ave, which means a lot of packages sitting on porches, a lot of empty driveways during the day while everyone commutes up to Silicon Slopes in Lehi or downtown, and a lot of look-alike houses on tight lots where a good camera actually matters.
The other thing is the HOA angle. Will a security camera get approved by the Daybreak HOA?
Usually yes, but it depends on the device and where it points. Daybreak's design review has rules on exterior-mounted equipment and privacy onto neighboring lots. Doorbell cameras are generally fine; larger wall-mounted units and anything covering a shared area get more scrutiny. I plan placement to fit those rules and handle the submission, and I've had these clear on the first pass. Give me about 1-2 weeks for the review to come back before we schedule the install.
Should I get wired cameras or battery ones in a South Jordan new build?
If your home is a newer build off Mountain View Corridor and still fairly open, wired PoE is the move, one cable does power and video, and it never dies on you. Battery cameras seem easy but you're recharging them every 1-3 months, and they miss fast events because of wake-up delay. In an already-finished home with no attic access, I'll run a hybrid so we still get you 4K without tearing up drywall.
